Smarte Solutions to protect Microsoft software

Smarte Solutions to protect Microsoft software

General Interest Sep 30,2003 0

Smarte Solutions Inc. ("Smarte") announced that replication facilities throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia have become certified providers of Smarte piracy management technology. Smarte has certified replication sites located within the United States, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Ireland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. These replication facilities are the service organizations used by Microsoft Corp. to produce SmarteCD protected CD media containing authorized Microsoft software products. This certification contract provides Smarte Solutions immediate revenues and comes on the heels of a separate license agreement announced April 2003 that provides Microsoft use of SmarteSECURE(TM) and SmarteMASTER(TM) piracy management products. As certified providers of Smarte technology, replication facilities are authorized to securely produce piracy-managed media containing SmarteCD(TM) technology for any Smarte Solutions client including Microsoft.

"This agreement expedites our ability to ramp up production capacity for Microsoft products that will employ the Smarte brand of piracy management technology," said Robbie Booth, head of anti-piracy and development manager for Microsoft Game Studios. "It is our strong desire to use this technology in conjunction with several key titles that have fast-approaching release dates. We have been using SmarteSECURE and SmarteMASTER internally to secure development and beta cycles for a number of projects and are excited to take this final step into deployment."

"As a Microsoft preferred independent software vendor (ISV) for the protection of intellectual property, Smarte Solutions is, of course, delighted to certify replication facilities at the request of the most influential company in the software industry," said Bala Vishwanath, Smarte Solutions Chairman & CEO. "By scaling global production capacity of authorized replicators to meet the needs of Microsoft, Smarte becomes a globally accessible piracy management solutions provider for any software publisher that uses media replication as a part of its product distribution process. It continues to be an extreme pleasure to work with the Microsoft team, and we look forward to extending the relationship to aid every facet of Microsoft in managing piracy for profitability."
