Ricoh Japan announces DVD+RW MP5120A

Ricoh Japan announced yesterday the DVD+RW MP5120A CD-R/W/DVD+RW recorder and the Ricoh DVD+RW media for data/audio. The Ricoh MP5120 is a super combo drive that supports all CD writing/re-writing formats and the promising DVD+RW format. Drive's price is expected around 60.000 Yen (500$) and the DVD+RW media (for data) around 1500 Yen (12$). There will be 2 types of DVD+RW media, one for data and for video (with higher price due to copyrights). No information is yet known about the drive's arrival in Europe/rest of the world. - Ricoh MP5120A

Access time: 140ms (DVD) and 120ms (CD)

The retail package will include: The Ricoh MP5120A DVD+RW drive, 1 piece of DVD+RW media, 1 piece of 74min 4-10x HS-RW media, Setup manual, Quick guide, Online manual, Analog audio cable, Installation screw. The attached software would be: MyDVD (DVD-VIDEO authoring software), MotionDV STUDIO (video compilation software), Bs Recorder GOLD (DVD/CD mastering software), B's CliP (DVD/CD packet writing software) and WinDVD (DVD-VIDEO playback software).
