The i-Blue PS3200 is an alternative proposal to the more common SiRF III chipset powered GPS devices. The device has a very attractive design and a good retail package, and can be connect an external antenna to further boost its reception. The auto on/off power management function can increase operating time to 32hours (waiting), despite the fact that the included battery is only rated at 1050mAh. The retail price is around US$105, making it a good alternative to the Globalsat BT-338 (US$120).

The Positive

  • Very good design
  • Can be powered from USB interface
  • Complete retail package
  • Very good auto on/off power save function
  • Car charger is included
  • Good performance
  • Can be used by pedestrians as well
  • Easy installation (includes an good printed manual)
  • External antenna offers better performance (optional cable)
  • Small dimensions and light-weight make it very portable

The Negative

  • Easily loses 3D fix
  • Bad performance when indoors
  • No rubber feet to prevent it sliding, need to use the included rubber mat
  • Doesn't support WAAS/Egnos
