CDFS - Advanced Ripping - Page 4

Till now we saw the simple procedure of wav ripping..But what we do when we got a scratched AudioCD ?

All time I ripped wavs never faced any problems with scratched AudioCDs. But recently got a CD from I could't rip a track properly. So I decided to put all possible software around to rip it succefully.

The problem started when I opened EAC and tried to copy the wav into HD. Into both drives (Teac & Plextor) the copy procedure seemed to fail since I got the message : Reading Error, Sync Error. However the file was into my HD and with the correct size. The only problem now was..How I know if the produced file was correct ? (since I use it as the correct ripped wav to compare it with other files..)

So I decided to make a full comparison with all available software and hardware to see what is going on..

Tested CD: Shine TOO - Track :  8 (Dodgy - Staying out for the summer)

Testing Method:The only way to test all available programs (since secure mode of EAC seemed to failed) was to extract the same wav 2 times with each program and then compare the 2 produced files to see if they was same or different. I also used CDRWin (1x ripping speed) for getting the lowest ripping speed.

That test was a suprise. Neither EAC or AudioCapture 2000 managed to make a successfully copy of wav into HD. Don't have to mention about CDFS, AudioFS programs which haven't got any error correction method. For such there situations I would recommend using CDRWin to rip the wavs into 1x speed. It is possible that when you rip 2 (or more) times the same wav that the produced files aren't the same. What you can do then? This is the most worst case. You can always try to rip the same file several times and if you are lucky 2 ripped files could be same..
