CDR Tests

We tested the drive with latest version of Nero/CloneCD. Mitsumi DW-7801TE and Plextor PX-504A support the 16x CLV maximum writing speed. The drives are also able to write at 8x and 4x, as Nero InfoTool reports:

For all the recording tests, we burned 803MB of data.

The drives finished burning at 16x speed, at 5:35 seconds. Writing under the CLV strategy does not allow any variations in the recording times, since the speed is constant during the writing process.

The recording times for all the supported speeds are illustrated in the following chart:

- CloneCD Writing Tests

The CloneCD software reports that both drives support the DAO-RAW writing mode. In addition, they support the RAW DAO 96 mode, which means that they can rewrite uncorrected data and Subchannel data.

For checking the drive's EFM correction status, we used 3 different game titles with different SafeDisc 2 versions with the latest software patches installed. We used the drive as both a reader and writer at maximum reading/recording speeds. Two discs were burned for each game (Amplify Weak Sectors On/Off). The results are posted in the table below:
