Maxell Corporation of America, the technology and marketing leader in premium recordable media products, today unveiled another industry first -- its new Mini DVD-R discs, providing a compact high-capacity storage solution for mobile digital applications. The new Mini DVD-R discs use the same compact 8cm (3") form factor as Maxell's Mini DVD camcorder products and Mini CD-R discs, and provide 1.4 GB of storage capacity and are capable of storing up to 30 minutes of digital video or up to 20 hours of MP3 audio. Maxell's newest DVD-R products are write-compatible with all general purpose DVD-R/RW drives, and read-compatible with all recordable DVD drive formats, as well as DVD-ROM, DVD Video and DVD Audio.

"The new generation of mobile digital devices including digital camcorders, digital cameras and MP3 players share two common storage requirements: capacity and a compact form factor, and we were committed to be the first to meet them," said Dawn Wortman, senior marketing manager at Maxell. The compact size and universal read-compatibility make Maxell Mini DVD-R discs an ideal medium for a broad range of mobile storage applications, including storage of multimedia content -- digital audio, video and still images, graphics, business presentations, Internet downloads and data sharing.

Maxell's Mini DVD-R discs will be available in February in both 5-pack and 10-pack configurations.
