Microsoft Has a New Logo For the Edge browser

Microsoft Has a New Logo For the Edge browser

Enterprise & IT Nov 3,2019 0

Microsoft is refreshing the logo for its Chromium-based Edge browser.

The new logo will likely go live once Microsoft ships the new Chromium-based Edge browser to the public. It was revealed as part of a treasure/easter egg hunt from Microsoft, which involved the Edge team posting a number of puzzles and clues on the /r/MicrosoftEdge subreddit.

The logo looks like a wave, and includes a similar Fluent Design style to the company’s new Office icons. It could reminds you the Mozilla Firefox, and its a major departure from the classic Edge logo we have seen for years.

Microsoft released a beta version of the Edge Chromium browser back in August, and a stable version appeared on the web recently.

Microsoft's "full-Chromium" Edge will feature an integrated IE mode that replicates that browser for the corporate users who still need it - notably IE's ActiveX controls - to run aged web apps and obsolescing intranet sites.

According to data published last week by California analytics vendor Net Applications, Chrome's market share remains solid, althoug it fell in October by 1.1 percentage points to 67.4%. The difference with Microsoft's twins of Internet Explorer (IE) and Edge was 54.9 points. IE climbed to 6.4%, while Edge edged up to 6.1%. Firefox ended the month at 8.6%.
