AMD's highly anticipated 16-core processor, the Ryzen 9 3950X will be delayed until November to launch around the same time as Threadripper 3000.

"We are focusing on meeting the strong demand for our 3rd generation AMD Ryzen processors in the market and now plan to launch both the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X and initial members of the 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper processor family in volume this November. We are confident that when enthusiasts get their hands on the world’s first 16-core mainstream desktop processor and our next-generation of high-end desktop processors, the wait will be well worth it, AMD said.

The Ryzen 5 3950X will offer the highest boost frequency of any 3rd Gen Ryzen CPU and will compete with Intel’s equivalent HEDT processors, possibly by offering a better value.

According to recent report, TMSC - the company behind the production of 7nm CPUs including 3rd Gen Ryzen - has been unable to meet demands for 7nm chips. AMD did not give any reason the the delay, which could also be the result of low yields during production.

Along with the delay, AMD also announced that Threadripper 3000 will also arrive in November.
