Freecom announces external DVD+RW/+R second generation DVD recorder

Freecom announces external DVD+RW/+R second generation DVD recorder

General Interest Sep 24,2002 0

Freecom presents its new external DVD+RW / +R-drive: The FX-10 is a fast, all-in-one device - the perfect blend of technology and design. With the Freecom FX-10, users can burn rewritable DVD+RWs and recordable DVD+Rs and CDs, read DVD-ROMs and CD-ROMs and play DVD videos. The 2.4X DVD Writer writes and rewrites a standard 4.7GB DVD in about 25 minutes. CDs are written at 12X speed and rewritten at 10X speed. In addition, the drive has 8X DVD reading speed and a 32X speed for reading CDs. The external DVD+RW/+R drive is connected with the simple plug-and-play connector to the USB 2.0 port for maximum performance. With the integrated Power-ON/OFF function, the drive automatically switches off and thus does not draw any standby power. Allow yourself to get impressed: The Freecom FX-10 is the ideal combination of leading-edge technology and cool design. The drive, with its dynamic design, does not fall within the conventional framework. The blue-and-white drive has a unique sloped design and has a closed front panel. The special feature: The drawer of the drive is fully integrated - a little pressure with the finger opens the flap and the drawer rolls out.

With the Freecom FX-10, you get a cost-effective external DVD+RW / +R-drive with USB 2.0 port. The easy installation and operation make it simple to switch between different workplaces. Use the FX-10 to copy DVDs and CDs or make backups on DVD+RW (4.7 GB, corresponding to about 7 CDs). Moreover, you can play videos or compile music and photo CDs. With the accompanying full version of the software Ulead Video Studio 5, you can edit videos digitally* on the computer and then burn them to DVD or CD. The FX-10 DVD+RW / +R makes it possible to store up to 130 minutes of High Quality video recordings or up to 3 hours of video recordings in VHS quality on one DVD. When writing and rewriting to DVDs as well as CDs, the in-built Buffer Underrun Prevention Technology ensures reliable recording at all times.

Freecom delivers the FX-10 DVD+RW/+R-drive together with USB 2.0 connecting cable and 2 years' manufacturer's warranty. The kit also includes a comprehensive software package: apart from the latest burning software Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.3 for DVD and CD as well as the Toast burning software for Mac Version 5.1, the package also includes the DVD software PowerDVD from Cyberlink and a full-fledged version of the video editor Ulead Video Studio 5. Furthermore, the kit includes: a DVD+RW (4.7 GB) and CD-R (700 MB), a CD-Marker pen and a multilingual manual.

The Freecom FX-10 DVD+RW/+R-drive will be available in October 2002 for 499 euros (RRP).

Older computers that do not have a USB 2.0 port can be affordably upgraded with Freecom's FA-1 USB 2.0 PCI card. The card provides two Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports and is available for just 39 Euro (RRP) from your dealer.
