New LaCie FireWire 12x4x32x CD-RW FireBooster

New LaCie FireWire 12x4x32x CD-RW FireBooster

General Interest Jul 19,2000 0

"...Shipped with Macintosh and Windows recording utilities for $399 LaCie is demonstrating the "FireBooster" 12x4x32x CD-RW -- its fastest FireWire CD-RW drive -- at MACWORLD Expo NY, Booth 2219, in the Jacob Javits Convention Center this week. Featuring a FireWire interface, the new CD-RW drive combines faster write performance with the convenience of being able to easily transfer the drives between FireWire-equipped computers.

Designed to move large amounts of data between computers and peripheral devices, the FireWire controller built into LaCie peripherals is a 400 Mbps interface that is based on a 1394 to IDE/ATAPI bridge chipset. With FireWire support, the drive is hot-pluggable -- it can be removed or swapped with others without requiring the computer to be restarted. The drive mounts automatically as soon as it is connected. There is no need for terminators, device IDs or elaborate setup.

Availability and Pricing
The LaCie 12x4x32x FireBooster CD-RW is available through LaCie's accredited resellers and mail order partners at an estimated street price of $399. The FireWire drive comes in LaCie's rugged, stackable casing and includes LaCie Recording Utilities, and an international power supply. LaCie also offers a complete range of CD-R and CD-RW media, including 12x-certified CD-R media and 4x-certified CD-RW media..." NULL
