Google Launches Wedding Web Site

Google Launches Wedding Web Site

Enterprise & IT Feb 11,2011 0

To help users plan their wedding Google has created wedding-specific templates in Google Sites, Google Docs and Picnik, and gathered tips and tricks for using these and other Google products at google.com/weddings. The company also announced that it has implemented a two-step authentication for user's Google accounts.

Organize your wedding

From wedding websites to save-the-date cards, these tools simplify wedding planning.

The company teamed up with renowned wedding planner Michelle Rago, who provided her insight and creativity to guide the designs available on this new site. Michelle also shared her experience to provide tips and advice to keep a wedding's guests comfortable.

Google is hosting a wedding sweepstakes, so users can enter for a chance to win $25,000 towards their dream wedding. Plus, Michelle Rago and her team will advise the winning couple on location, flowers, food and other design elements to create a day that is uniquely their own.

Visit google.com/weddings to start planning.

Two-step authentication for Google accounts

In related news, Google today introduced a two-step verification feature for Google Accounts to add an extra layer of security to services such as Gmail and YouTube.

This 2-step verification makes users' Google Account more secure by helping to verify that they're the real owner of their account.

2-step verification requires two independent factors for authentication: a password, plus a code obtained using a users' phone.

Google expects that the set up of the 2-step verificationmay take up to 15 minutes to enroll. A set-up wizard will guide users through the process, including setting up a backup phone and creating backup codes in case they lose access to their primary phone. Once users enable 2-step verification, they'll see an extra page that prompts them for a code when they sign in to their account. After entering the password, Google will call users with the code, send them an SMS message or give them the choice to generate the code for themselves using a mobile application on their Android, BlackBerry or iPhone device.
