3D Without Glasses at CeBIT 2010

3D Without Glasses at CeBIT 2010

Consumer Electronics Feb 4,2010 0

Singapore-based technology company Sunny Ocean Studios makes it possible to enjoy a 3D experience from 64 different perspectives for the first time without additional visual aids. The 27-inch monitor, whose upstream optical system enables "glasses free" 3D images, will celebrate its public premiere at the CeBIT 2010 technology show in Hannover.

Sunny Ocean Studios is currently developing a 3D cinema in which the audience will no longer require any special glasses. At CeBIT the company will present this technology for the cinema of the future in a mobile 27-inch format.

"Whether it?s for private use or for commercial application ? the current discussion surrounding 3D imagery shows that the future belongs to 3D capable systems. We are presenting a solution where the image appears to float spatially in front of the screen without the help of the usual aids like 3D glasses. By using 64 individual frames for the different perspectives in each 3D image for the first time, we can achieve a significantly improved 3D quality. We are even able to achieve this effect on standard monitors," said Armin Grasnick, founder and managing director.

In addition, the technology company will present its services and products for 3D projection without visual aids ("autostereoscopic"), for example, the refitting of current displays for glasses fee 3D display and the conversion of 2D images into 3D images. Grasnick: "We already possess the technology needed to quickly and inexpensively make large displays up to a size of 100-inch 3D capable."
