VST ships new high performance FireWire Hard Drives

VST ships new high performance FireWire Hard Drives

General Interest Jan 5,2000 0

"..VST Technologies, Inc. today announced a new series of IEEE 1394 compliant FireWire hard drives in capacities up to 25GB. The previous maximum capacity supported in the same physical package was 14GB.

VST's new products include the ultra portable series of FireWire hard drives in 12, 18 and 25 Gigabyte capacities. VST FireWire Hard Drives, the smallest and most compact in the world, feature full hot-plug/unplug support and improved data transfer rates of up to 14 megabytes per second, fast enough to allow direct-to-disk broadcast-quality video authoring and capture at low consumer price points.

VST's 6 and 12 gigabyte ultra compact drives measure only 3 in (W) x 5.5 in (D) x 0.7 in (H), and weigh just 6.5 ounces. The 18GB and 25GB FireWire models address users demands for larger capacities for a variety of digital video, audio and multimedia applications, while maintaining true portability and the same small 3 x 5 inch foot print. The VST FireWire drives may be FireWire cable bus-powered, so no external power source is necessary. With typical shock ratings of 500Gs, the drives stand up to the rigors of portable use. NULL
