A new software patch is claimed to enable Nvidia's SLI multi-GPU feature to third party motherboards, based on Intel, SiS, Uli, Via or even ATI chipsets. Nvidia's SLI (Scalable Link Interface) multi-GPU technology requires a mainboard and a chipset that support two PCI Express x16 slots for graphics cards. In addition, the Nvidia's official drivers do not allow two graphics cards to work in an SLI configuration on systems that used non-Nvidia core logic sets.

A while back Asrock published a SLI enabling patch for their ULi chipset based motherboards that have two PCI-Express slots. Various rumors suggested that the patch would also function under other chipsets as well, and allow users with other chipsets to use SLI on their non-SLI motherboards.

Enthusiasts over the website ngohq.com claim that they have managed to create an SLI patch that allows users to use it with any motherboard.

Note that the specific patch is not officially supported by Nvidia or any other software maker.
