SiS Launches SiS9561 Android Internet TV SoC Solution

Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS) today launched the SiS9561-a new internet TV solution aiming for emerging smart TV opportunities. SiS9561 HDTV SoC solution, supporting Android 2.2 Froyo OS, offers customized widgets include most popular services including Youtube, Facebook, eBay, Flickr, Weather and Google finance, as well as online film renting. Moreover, SiS9561-based Android TV can be connected with any Android smartphone or tablet.

The SiS9561 Android internet TV solution integrates dual core 32-bit 576MHz MIPS processors, OpenGL ES1.1 graphic engine and supports DDR3-1333 memory subsystem. The SoC also supports all kinds of video formats including MPEG 1/2/4, RM/RMVB, H.264 and etc.. It also integrates Adobe Flash Player 10.1 application.

One unique design of SiS9561 Android-based internet TV is a keyboard-free using scenario. Users can switch the TV or Internet TV function by remote control in stead of a PC keyboard, eliminating the learning difficulties to internet TV using procedures. Besides, users can use their Android smartphone or tablet to control SiS9561 Android TV.

The SiS9561 Android internet TV platform also supports video on demand recording, time shift and karaoke which let users enjoy videos with location-free benefits. Besides, it supports USB and SD/MMC input devices for a convenience to save the internet contents. For a precious moment sharing with far-away family or friend, users can also use embedded Skype internet communication on SiS9561 Android internet TV platform.

Engineering sample of SiS9561 SoC has been under verification now and SiS9561-based internet TV product is projected to be market available at Q2.
