For testing the Silicon Power (SP) UD90 2TB, we used the following test system

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • Case: bequiet! Silent Base 802
  • CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Chromax.black
  • CPU Fan: Stock 2x120mm Noctua
  • Motherboard: Asus X570 E-Gaming with 4802 BIOS
  • Memory: 2x16GB G.skill Trident Z RGB CL14 @ 3200MHz CL14 (XMP Profile) @ 1.35V
  • PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 11 650Watt
  • HDD: Crucial MX500 SSD
  • VGA: Asus 1060 6GB Dual
  • Operating system: Windows 11 x64 with all the latest updates installed

The AJA Test System shows a quick overview of the drive's reading/writing speed, having around 3.60GB/sec writing and around 4.06GB/sec reading.

Passing to a more well-known benchmark, the ATTO Disk Benchmark shows the performance with various file sizes from 0.5Kb, 1Kb, and 2Kb up to 8192MB file sizes. The drive didn't perform very well with this software, we have seen similar behavior with other drives also.

Passing to the newest ATTO Disk Benchmark 4.01.0F1, again performance was very good and reached 6.03GB/sec reading and 5.28GB/sec writing performance.

CrystalDiskMark 3.0.4

CrystalDiskMark 6.0.2

CrystalDiskMark 7.0.0

CrystalDiskMark 8.0.4

Getting into AS SSD Benchmark software, the drive got a score of 6888 points.

Passing the IOMeter test, with our custom configuration, the drive performed well with 40010.39 points, notice the max I/O response time of 8.6990ms, which is higher, compared with traditional designs, due to its host memory buffer (HMB) design, in real life you will not notice any delays.

The drive working temperatures without any kind of heatsink (either passive or active) are rather high and during benchmark reached 80 Celsius, which will cause the drive to thermal throttle.

It's highly advised to use some kind of passive cooling, in our case we used an M2280 passive heatsink with active cooling, which manages the overall temperatures very well. In our case, we placed a small 40mm fan upon the passive heatsink and we managed to keep temperatures below 51 Celsius even though we weren't benchmarking the drive.
