Samsung Patents Hinge Hiding Component For Folding Phones

Smartphones Dec 4,2019 0

Samsung Electronics seems to be working on hiding the hinge component in the second edition of Galaxy Fold that is expected to be launched next August.

The South Korean tech giant has trademarked a patent for something called “Hideaway Hinge” with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, according to a report on the LetsGo Digital website.

The patent was filed Monday and describes a new design that hides the thick hinge part on the exterior of a foldable device.

Samsung plans to introduce two new foldable devices next year. The clamshell type with a thinner display that will vertically fold is expected to be unveiled around February.
