Plextor Manager 2000 - Page 2

Music Video Producer 2000 is a application for recording and playing music and video with your Plextor CD-ROM or PlexWriter drives. (For recording it needs CDR/W to be Plextor)

Features

CD-DA or A/V Player mode:
Toggle between playing audio from a CD-DA audio CD, or playing digital audio or video from a playlist or individual file.

Support for variety of digital formats:
Play back MP3, WAV, CDA, AVI, MPEG, or QuickTime formats. Record to audio CD from MP3, WAV, or audio tracks. The MVP 2000 software automatically decodes these formats and records them on CD, ready for playing on most home, car, or computer audio CD players.

CDDB information:
MVP 2000 can link to CDDB, the world's largest online database of audio CD information, and display album, artist and song names right on the screen as your CD plays.

Special Feature: Recording to CD-R
MVP 2000 includes a feature that allows you to record straight to CD-R or CD-RW media in your PlexWriter. You can record MP3 files, WAV files, or CDA tracks directly to a blank CD media, creating an Audio CD (CD-DA Red Book format). The MVP 2000 software automatically decodes these formats and records them on the fly as an audio CD.

You can select from Test,Burn and Test&Burn features. To be sure if your system can handle the decoding procedure I suggest making a Test Burn first. If your system cannot handle it the MVP will lower speed of burn.

Verdict of application

Even the player looks good I cannot say I liked to much. My current Windows player (WinAMP) has more control on output features and has more features. I think it needs improvement into this area. The most impressive feature is the ability to select several files (wavs,mp3) and burning them to CD (Mp3 decoding on the fly). I didn't tested how well it works since I don't have a Plextor CDR/W.
