Pioneer pulls the plug on VCR

Pioneer pulls the plug on VCR

General Interest Mar 31,2004 0

Combining leading edge technology with user-friendliness, the Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder is providing consumers with the next generation of DVD technology. The entry-level Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder allows families to replace outdated VCRs with simple one-button recording for televised content as well as home movies directly onto DVD discs. The Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder offers progressive scan playback as well as compressed audio playback of MP3 and Windows Media Audio files.

The slim Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder can be integrated with any home cinema equipment, making it an integral part of consumer entertainment systems.

Providing consumers with ease of use and new functionality, the Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder is packed with the latest technologies that are driving home television viewing.

The Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder has a time shifting feature called 'Chase Play', to ensure consumers never miss out on a piece of the viewing action.

Imagine watching a movie when all of a sudden the door bell rings, distracting the user away from the action. Consumers can easily initiate 'Chase Play' by recording onto a DVD-R/RW disc in Video Recording Mode.

By doing so, consumers no longer have to wait until the show is over before rewinding back to find out what they have missed. When returning back from the disruption, 'Chase Play' allows the user to start viewing the movie from precisely where they left off.

The DVD recorder will continue to record the movie in 'real time' until instructed to stop.

What's more, 'Chase Play' allows a consumer to walk in on a recording at any particular time and commence viewing the footage from the beginning, while the Pioneer DVR310 continues to record in 'real time'.

Searching for available disc space to record more material has never been easier, thanks to Pioneer's 'Disc History' feature.

Easily accessed from the on-screen menu, the 'Disc History' screen shows the user the available recording space for the last 30 loaded discs, along with disc names, names of the first three programs and the number of programs recorded on the disc.

Consumers can easily check out the remaining recording time on each disc without the hassle of re-inserting those previous 30 discs. To add further value to this, the 'Disc History' feature automatically updates itself every time a recordable disc is loaded into the Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder.

For consumers who appreciate easy recording, the Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder has the perfect solution with 'One-Touch Copy'. With the touch of a button, the DVR310 DVD recorder automatically starts high-speed copying of the program onto a DVD disc, precisely from beginning to end - without wasting any disc space.

The hassle of "programming the VCR is a complaint of the past. Thanks to a Graphic User Interface (GUI), the Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder enables users to record, edit and playback footage using thumbnail images as a guide.

The Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder will capture memories as well as movies. Using an i.LINK input, consumers can directly plug their DV camcorder into the Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder and make the relevant editing decisions.

Consumers can create the ultimate home theatre experience by connecting the DVD recorder to a Dolby Digital/DTS compatible receiver/amplifier and a multi-channel surround sound speaker system.

The Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder will playback DVD-R/RW, CDs and CD-R/RW discs. Additionally, the DVR310 can handle Video CDs, MP3 and WMA files recorded on CD-R/RW as well as Super Video CD.

The Pioneer DVR310 DVD recorder is the ultimate playback device with the ability to handle NTSC and PAL discs.
