New Software And Apps Expected to Debut At Apple's Development Conference

Enterprise & IT Jun 1,2014 0

Apple on Monday kicks off its developers conference, where the focus will be the new software and apps for iPhones, iPads, iPods and Macintosh computers. Besides the numerous rumors that have been circulating online about Apple's announcments during the World Wide Developers Conference, Apple chief executive Tim Cook has said that the company would weigh into a new product category by the end of this year, fueling speculation that includes talk of a smartwatch or a system for using iPhones or iPads to control door locks, security systems and other smart devices in smart homes.

For sure, Apple will spotlight the capabilities added to the operating systems powering its mobile devices and Macintosh computers.

Analysts expect APple to also focus on applications, which are essential to the popularity of smartphones or tablet computers.

Software features that Apple might talk about could include a mobile payments platform to challenge Google Wallet on Android smartphones.

Apple might also expand Passbook capabilities for storing and using digital airline tickets, movie passes and gift cards to include health-related information in a move that could tie to an "iWatch."

Apple could upgrade its line of Macintosh computers while it touts the next generation operating system.

Jimmy Iovine and rapper Dr Dre, co-founders of Beats Music, may also appear on stage, following the recent acquisition deal valued at $3 billion.
