KIOXIA Launches New PCIe 5.0 EXCERIA PLUS G4 SSD Series

KIOXIA Launches New PCIe 5.0 EXCERIA PLUS G4 SSD Series

PC components Dec 17,2024 0

KIOXIA Europe announced the EXCERIA PLUS G4 SSD Series for gamers and content creators seeking performance that offers increased productivity and power efficiency to deliver an enhanced PC experience. Featuring a next generation PCIe 5.0 interface, the EXCERIA PLUS G4 Series delivers speeds of up to 10,000MB/s for sequential reads and 8,200MB/s[1] for sequential writes (2TB) for performance-hungry gaming and video editing environments. For this new series, KIOXIA prioritized optimized energy consumption and cooler performance. The EXCERIA PLUS G4 Series improves power efficiency by approximately 80%[2] at max sequential read speed over the previous generation. Enabling more effective heat dissipation, EXCERIA PLUS G4 SSDs feature innovative product labels to enhance heat dissipation for systems that need extra cooling and stability during intense gaming or rendering sessions.

The all-new EXCERIA PLUS G4 SSD Series features KIOXIA’s BiCS FLASH™ 3D flash memory and will come in a single-sided M.2 2280 form factor with 1TB or 2TB[3] capacity option. For eco-conscious users, EXCERIA PLUS G4 SSDs will use KIOXIA’s new paper-based packaging, limiting plastic waste.

"We are delighted to introduce our first PCIe 5.0 Consumer SSD, designed to elevate the gaming and content creation experience of our end customers to unprecedented levels," said Paul Rowan, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of the Memory and SSD Business Units at KIOXIA Europe GmbH. "With the latest KIOXIA BiCS FLASH 3D flash memory technology and a controller optimized for the highest energy effiency, this new SSD enables vast PCIe 5.0 workloads while maintaining a power consumption on PCIe 4.0 level. Whether increased battery life or support of the overall thermal performance in the Host system, the all-new EXCERIA PLUS G4 is engineered to balance between highest data transfer rates and energy consumption".

Notes
1: Read and write speed may vary depending on various factors such as host devices, software (drivers, OS etc.), and read/write conditions.
2: Based on KIOXIA research (as of December 2024). These values are the read-out speed per power consumption obtained in a specific test environment at KIOXIA Corporation. Power efficiency is the useful output which is measured in tasks per watt. (Calculated by dividing 2,013MB/s/W (EXCERIA PLUS G4 1TB) by 1,073MB/s/W (EXCERIA PLUS G3 1TB)).
3: Definition of capacity: KIOXIA defines a megabyte (MB) as 1,000,000 bytes, a gigabyte (GB) as 1,000,000,000 bytes and a terabyte (TB) as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB = 230 = 1,073,741,824 bytes and therefore shows less storage capacity.
