As DigiTimes report "...A unit of Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) has decided to license its patented technology to produce 4.7GB DVD-R disc coating dye to China Steel Chemical Corporation (CSCC). The company will start volume production of the dye in the first half of this year..." and continues "...Union Chemical Laboratories (UCL) general director Dr. Wu-Hsun Cheng said that UCL has been granted patents for the dye in Taiwan, the US and Japan. Until now, no Taiwanese company has been able to produce such dye, instead relying on imported dye to produce DVD-R discs..."
