The 33rd RW Products Promotion Initiative (RWPPI) General Meeting was held on October 28th, at the head office of Pioneer Corporation in Meguro ward, Japan. Along with the announcements of new products and reports for the DVD-RW/R DL Disc Standard, the RWPPI welcomed BenQ Corporation as it became the 69th RWPPI member. Mr. Koki Aizawa, the Representative of RWPPI said in its introduction speech: "We?ve been hearing a lot about the next generation discs from the past and now, but the truth of the matter is that business centered on DVD-RW & R related products continue to make excellent releases, and will surely be the prime selling products for this Christmas season and thereafter. As a result, our RWPPI sponsored Round Robin Test activities will play an even more vital role."

Wealth Fair Technologies Ltd. from Hong Kong, and BenQ Corporation from Taiwan joined the RWPPI's latest meeting, and will support the activities of the group. With the latest additions, the RWPPI is currently supported by 69 corporations.

In addition, Pioneer presented the current DVD-RW DL and DVD-R DL 8x disc specifications that have been discussed and established by the DVD Forum. The specifications will include both 12cm and 8cm media, aiming at the DVD camcorder market.
