Apple To Offer Mobile Payments Service

Apple To Offer Mobile Payments Service

Enterprise & IT Jan 25,2014 0

Apple is looking to take on services like PayPal, according to the Wall Street Journal. Citing anonymous sources, the report says that Apple is exploring ways to lett users pay for physical goods and services with an iTunes account. The Journal says that Eddy Cue, the Apple executive in charge of iTunes and the App Store, has already met with industry executives to discuss the matter.

"In another sign of the company's interest, Apple moved Jennifer Bailey, a longtime executive who was running its online stores, into a new role to build a payment business within the technology giant," the newspaper added, citing "three people with knowledge of the move."

The move would put the company in direct competition with services like Stripe and PayPal.

Apple already lets users buy music, books and apps through an iTunes account.
