Adaptec introduces the new version of its USB 2.0 driver

Adaptec introduces the new version of its USB 2.0 driver

Enterprise & IT Nov 22,2001 0

Adaptec announced the availability of a new version of its USB 2.0 driver that includes hub and notebook support. These new drivers are available for download on the USB product page of Adaptec's web site at: http://www.adaptec.com/usb. "With twenty years of experience in the development of software drivers, Adaptec is well positioned to deliver dependable driver solutions that meet the demands of today's high-bandwidth USB 2.0 peripherals," said Jeff Loebbaka, vice president and general manager of Adaptec's Desktop Solutions Group. "The development of reliable USB 2.0 drivers is key to ensuring a quality consumer experience with USB devices. We have long-standing relationships with PC and peripheral industry leaders to ensure that our USB 2.0 drivers offer the highest levels of interoperability and compatibility. Our focus is on providing consumers with quality solutions they can trust."

Adaptec's new USB 2.0 drivers allow consumers to take full advantage of new high-speed USB peripherals using Adaptec's complete family of USB 2.0 solutions including USB2connect 3100LP and 5100 USB 2.0 PCI cards, USB2connect for Notebooks, XHub and DuoConnect, a combination USB and FireWire card. The new version of Adaptec's USB 2.0 drivers support Microsoft Windows® 98 Second Edition, Windows 2000 and Windows Millennium Edition operating systems and work with all USB 1.1 and high-speed USB 2.0 devices.

At forty times faster than USB 1.1, high-speed USB is the ideal standard for supplying the speed and high bandwidth needs of external hard disks, high-speed scanners, CD-RW and DVD storage devices. Also known as USB 2.0, high-speed USB provides consumers with an easy, "plug and play" solution for connecting USB peripherals to a PC. USB 2.0 is also fully backwards compatible with USB 1.1 devices already on the market like digital cameras, modems, keyboards, mice, digital joysticks, tape and floppy drives, digital scanners and printers.
