Acer has made available the new TravelMate B115 notebook PC in the United States and Canada. The affordable 10-point multi-touch notebook has a 11.6-inch Acer ComfyView LCD LED backlit display with a HD (1366x768) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It is offering up to 10 hours of battery life, is is powered by an Intel Celeron N2940 processor and has 500GB storage and 4GB of RAM expandable to 8GB. It’s also pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows 8.1.

It also offers 10-point multi-touch for taking full advantage of the touch functionality of the Windows 8.1 operating system. In addition, the integrated Precision Touchpad supports two-finger scrolling and pinching, swiping across charms and application commands.

The TravelMate B115 attaches to external displays via HDMI and connects to networks via Intel Centrino Advanced –N 7260. It’s also compatible with a wide range of peripherals and digital devices via Bluetooth 4.0, a fast USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports. It is also equippd with a high-def webcam (1280 x 780) with 720p audio/video recording and a built-in microphone.

The Acer TravelMate B115 comes with security and management software. Acer ProShield Manager is a suite of security and management tools within a single interface. It prevents unauthorized access while protecting assets and data integrity. Featuring pre-boot authentication, it protects the notebook from the BIOS level all the way to the application level. Users can create a Personal Secure Drive (PSD) to store and encrypt all critical files. In addition, a File Shredder utility lets users permanently remove unwanted files or folders beyond recovery.

Acer Backup provides another layer of security by backing up data, while Acer eRecovery Manager enables on-demand recovery.
The TravelMate B115 also comes with Acer Office Manager, a manageability solution, which allows IT managers to deploy security policies, monitor IT assets, and schedule maintenance tasks in one simple application.

The Acer TravelMate B115 will be available this month in the United States and Canada from authorized Acer resellers with estimated selling prices starting at $379 USD and at $439 CAD.
