CyberLink PowerDVD 6 Delivers the No 1 DVD Experience on the PC with Unsurpassed Video and Audio Quality

Optical Storage Nov 8,2004 0

CyberLink released the latest version of award-winning and industry-leading PowerDVD, with breakthrough technologies providing unsurpassed video quality and superior audio fidelity. PowerDVD incorporates support for high-definition audio and video, true 8-channel home theater audio playback, virtual surround sound, as well as complete controls and extra features for DVD enthusiasts.

"By far, PowerDVD 6 offers the number one DVD experience you can have on a PC," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. "In addition to brighter, more natural images, and smoother DVD playback, PowerDVD 6 provides the best audio fidelity possible with support for high-definition video and audio, and true 8-channel home theater surround sound."

PowerDVD 6 includes the following breakthrough features and technologies:

Unsurpassed Video Quality

· CyberLink Eagle Vision 2 is CyberLink's second-generation dynamic video technology, creating brighter luminance and more natural colors during DVD playback.

· Smart Video Deinterlacing uses intelligent frame-by-frame analysis and an adaptive de-interlacing technique to produce ultra-smooth video playback by eliminating the ghosting, feathering and unwanted image elements found in other playback applications.

· CyberLink Pano Vision maximizes playback flexibility by supporting both 4:3 and 16:9 DVD content and PC monitors.

Superior Audio Fidelity

· DVD-Audio support delivers 192 KHz, 24-bit high-definition audio, ensuring up to 256 times better audio fidelity than that found on audio CDs. PowerDVD supports the core coding technology of DVD-Audio, MLP Losless.

· High-Definition Video support allows playback of MPEG-2 HD and WMV-HD files, letting users make the most of their HD TV and the growing amount of HD video content available online and via DVD.

· Home-theater surround sound is delivered via support for Dolby Digital EX, giving users true 8-channel surround sound playback.

· CyberLink Multi-channel Environment Impression 2 (CLMEI-2), CyberLink's second-generation audio-expansion technology, optimizes 2-channel audio played over 8-channel home theater systems.

· Dolby Pro Logic IIx offers PowerDVD 6 users a second choice for 8-channel audio expansion.

· CyberLink Virtual Speaker and CyberLink Headphones create a virtual surround-sound experience via two stereo speakers or headphones. CyberLink Virtual Speaker mimics multiple listening environments, while CyberLink Headphones allows notebook users maximize enjoyment of their DVDs.

The Ultimate Format Support

PowerDVD 6 supports a complete range of video and audio standards, including DVD-/+VR, WMV-HD, MLP Lossless, MPEG-4 AVC (H.264), DivX Pro, DTS, Dolby Digital EX, MP3, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Headphones, Dolby Virtual Speakers.

Complete Controls

With PowerDVD 6 users have comprehensive easy-to-use mouse and keyboard controls for enjoying DVDs. Two new features provide fun ways to enjoy audio: Audio Equalizer Presets adds atmospheric effects to movie or music playback, and Audio Pitch Scaling enhances music while playing Karaoke discs. Other features include: Parental Controls, Dual Subtitles, closed captioning support, angle switching, and Video Bookmarks, among many others.

Powerful Expandability

Expandability options including a Mobility Pack allowing road warriors save battery power while watching DVDs via a notebook, and MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) Pack for playing video files compressed using this next-generation DVD standard.
