IBM Maintains Top Position In The List Of U.S. Patents
IBM continues to be the company that holds the most patents in the U.S., followed by Samsung, Google and Microsoft.
According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday, IBM held the top place for the 22nd consecutive year and registered 7,534 patents last year alone.
Samsung has ranked No. 2 since 2006 and registered 4,952 patents in 2014. The
South Korean company registered an average of 17 copyright patents a day in the U.S. this year. The company registered 2,589 patents in the U.S. from January to Tuesday, putting it at No. 2 after IBM (3,192 patents), which registered 21 patents a day.
The list continues with Google (1,338 patents), Microsoft (1,183), Qualcomm (1,133), Apple (875) and Intel (762).
