Indigita brings FireWire connectivity to Panasonic DVD-RAM

General Interest Sep 26,2000 0

"...Indigita announced today that its iDT-400F FireWire bridge board supports Panasonic 4.7GB rewritable DVD-RAM drives equipped with an ATAPI interface. With the board, the drives mount automatically as soon as they are connected to the Apple FireWire ports on G3, G4, and iMac DV systems, and 1394 ports of PCs with Windows 98 Second Edition or Windows 2000 (such as new models from Compaq and Sony).

Indigita's iDT-400F bridge board connects to the Panasonic DVD-RAM drive through a 40-pin header and ribbon cable. The bridge can be mounted to the enclosure back-panel through two mounting holes located on the board. The 40-pin ribbon cable connection offers flexibility in mounting and attaching the iDT-400F. The bridge board also has two 1394 connectors which allows additional FireWire devices to be daisy chained.

Pricing, Availability
Panasonic Industrial Co.'s OEM DVD-RAM drive is available as an internal drive with an ATAPI interface (model LF-D211N) in Apple G3/G4 systems or as a SCSI-2 interface (model LF-D291N). The Panasonic-branded internal drive, model LF-D201U, is available from Panasonic and has an MSRP of $549..." NULL
