Panasonic introduces AK-UBX100 4K multi-purpose camera
Panasonic Entertainment & Communication Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Moriguchi City, Osaka; CEO: Akira Toyoshima; hereinafter “Panasonic”) plans to release the AK-UBX100, a box-style 4K multi-purpose camera compatible with the same 2/3" bayonet lens mount platform as the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera launched last year, in the fourth quarter of CY2025. Furthermore, the world's first*1 auto-focus (AF) function is set to be introduced on the AK-UCX100 ahead of its implementation on the AK-UBX100. The corresponding firmware update (hereinafter “FWUP”) is planned for December 2025*2.
In recent years, there has been a growing number of video production environments utilizing LED walls, projectors, and advanced lighting technologies, as well as an increasing demand for high-quality live streaming, and in these settings, and while these sites are required to supply multiple types of content simultaneously.
There is also a growing need to maintain consistent quality in a way that is accessible to users of all shooting skill levels and experience.
To address this, Panasonic has introduced a range of user-friendly innovations designed to simplify operation and enhance versatility across diverse filming environments. These features allow creators to stay focused on capturing their vision, reducing setup complexity and enabling more time for creative expression.*1: As of September 2, 2025, this is the first time such a function is built into a 4K studio or system camera (according to our research).
<Details>
1. Expansion of user expression through the newly developed AK-UBX100 multi-purpose camera, which features the same main functional and original core design as the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera
The AK-UBX100 box-style 4K multi-purpose camera utilizes the same main functional and original core design and shared menu interface as the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera. This eliminates the complexity of color matching, which has been a longstanding issue, and unifies operability across devices.
Also, by utilizing a common remote operation panel (ROP), seamless integration with the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera and the AW-UE160 4K PTZ camera becomes possible, leading to significant improvements in operational efficiency on the shooting site.
The AK-UBX100 independently supports a variety of IP protocols including SMPTE ST 2110, NDI®, SRT and its interfaces include two 12G-SDI ports and two SFP+/28 ports. In addition to basic moiré reduction performance designed for various production needs, the addition of an HD optical low-pass filter*3 further enhances moiré suppression, enabling the camera to deliver high expressive power on its own.
Regarding the AF function, support is scheduled to be provided via FWUP in the second quarter of CY2026*2.
In terms of design, this model features a flat design on all four sides, an improvement over the previous AK-UB300 model. By realizing a compact and lightweight body weighing only approx. 1.9 kg, the new camera can be easily mounted on a robot camera and can be used in a wide variety of shooting environments. This increases flexibility in combining with lenses and camera heads, greatly improving maneuverability on site.

2. World's first*1 AF function equipped (FWUP)
image: The area size can be selected from “Large,” “Medium,” or “Small”.
By incorporating the world’s first*1 AF function via FWUP, the camera enables fast and stable target acquisition regardless of the type of lens used or the operator’s skill level.
By differentiating its use from the already equipped focus assist function*4, the camera can be utilized in an even wider range of shooting situations.
This AF function allows incremental adjustment of the position, size, and speed of the target area, and even for experienced operators, the instantaneous AF support provided by the one-push AF function allows for a smooth transition to final manual adjustments, contributing to the realization of a focus on the angle of view.
This AF function is scheduled to be supported via FWUP for the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera ahead of the AK-UBX100, with the update planned for December 2025*2.
3. Function enhancements for the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera
For the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera, additional functions are scheduled to be added with the FWUP in December, in addition to the new AF function.
Addition of Low Skew Mode function
Expansion of Video TRUNK function (supports 12G-SDI output on TRUNK IN terminal)*5
Addition of automatic correction for F-drop and peripheral light falloff function*6
Addition of remote back focus adjustment function
Panasonic will continue to drive technological innovation to meet the diverse needs of video production environments, providing creators with the flexibility and high-quality tools they need to achieve expressive and professional video production.
These models will be exhibited at IBC2025 (International Broadcasting Convention 2025), Europe's largest professional broadcasting equipment exhibition, to be held in Amsterdam from September 12 to 15, 2025.
