New Alienware Desktops Equipped With NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX

New Alienware Desktops Equipped With NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX

PC components Nov 8,2006 0

Alienware is continuing to feed the needs of graphic-hungry users. The PC maker will equip its most powerful desktops with the unprecedented new NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX graphics processing units (GPU) in single or dual-GPU mode with NVIDIA SLI technology. Customers purchasing award-winning Area-51 7500, Aurora 7500, and ALX desktops will be able to configure their systems with the industry's first GPU to be fully compliant with next-generation DirectX 10 games and applications.

"Everything that makes gaming great - the pulse-pounding action, the immersive environments, the intricate detail - is dramatically intensified on Alienware systems with the new NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX," said Mark Vena, Vice President of Marketing at Alienware. "Whether diving into graphics-intensive creative projects, developing near-realistic simulations, maxing out battle settings for today's hottest games or experiencing a new era of gaming on the DirectX 10 games of tomorrow that will emerge with upcoming release of Microsoft Vista, users will have all the weaponry they need to dominate on Alienware desktop systems featuring the mind-blowing performance of the GeForce 8800."

The GeForce 8800 GTX provides exceptional graphics realism in computer-generated visual elements ranging from the detail of shadows and explosions to the movement of water and characters hair, culminating in an extreme HD graphics experience at up to 2560x1600 resolution with blazing-fast frame rates. That graphics realism is produced by an advanced new unified shader architecture, which dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics or pixel shading operations, in addition to a high speed memory interface and two dual-link DVI outputs.

To complete the definitive NVIDIA gaming platform, the GeForce 8800 GTX is joined by NVIDIA's nForce 680i SLI-based motherboard. The nForce 680i is architected for maximum gaming performance both on Alienware's Intel-based Area-51 desktops and AMD-based Aurora desktops, and it utilizes NVIDIA SLI technology to enable up to double the gaming power of a single-GPU configuration.

"NVIDIA's release of the GeForce 8800 GTX represents a paramount achievement in graphics technology, encompassing a revolutionary unified shader architecture, unprecedented image quality and complete DirectX 10 compliance," said Ujesh Desai, general manager of desktop GPUs at NVIDIA. "By packing the graphical muscle of the GeForce 8800 GTX with an nForce 680i SLI-based motherboard, Alienware systems will be able to reach a level of performance that will sure have gamers buzzing."

Alienware anticipates accepting customer orders on its web site for the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX within the next 30 days.
