Logitech Introduced Harmony 670 Remote

Logitech Introduced Harmony 670 Remote

PC components Oct 10,2006 0

Like all of Logitech's award-winning family of Harmony remotes, the Harmony 670 remote can completely control an entertainment system - it's the only remote people will need Logitech today introduced the mid-range Harmony(R) 670 advanced universal remote, which builds on the features of the company's popular Harmony(R) 659 remote, with enhancements that make controlling today's complex home-entertainment systems even easier.

The new remote features improved one-touch activity buttons and a button layout optimized to control digital video recorders (DVRs) such as TiVo(R). It's also the company's first remote to include the new Harmony 7.0 software, which makes setting up the remote and fine-tuning it on the PC easier than ever.

"When we designed our new remote, we paid close attention to the success of the Harmony 659 and the features that made it popular," said Bryan McLeod, vice president of Logitech's remote control products. "We enhanced those features, such as making the color-coded one-touch activity buttons slightly larger, and updated the button layout to reflect the trends in today's living room. In the end, we expect the affordably priced Harmony 670 remote to exceed the popularity of its predecessor, which helped establish the Harmony brand."

The Harmony 670 remote's color-coded activity, backlighted buttons make it easy for any member of the family to launch an entertainment activity. Pressing one of these clearly labeled buttons - such as Watch TV, Listen to Music, and Watch Movie - can put an entire entertainment system and all of its components in the right state for these activities. Switching between activities is child's play with the Harmony 670 remote. When a new activity is selected, the remote changes all the inputs and powers on the devices needed for that activity.

Because of the growing popularity of DVRs, Logitech improved upon the Harmony 659 remote's button layout by putting important DVR buttons in a central location. The new remote features a high-quality directional pad, with a design and premium materials similar to those used for the award-winning Harmony(R) 880 remote, offering intuitive navigation through television menus. And essential buttons such as record, play, pause, advance, rewind, skip forward, and skip back surround the directional pad.

The stylish Harmony 670 remote features Logitech's popular and comfortable peanut-shaped design. It also includes a fully backlighted keypad, for easy use when the lights are dimmed, and a liquid-crystal display (LCD), offering people the ability to add custom activities and additional controls.

The new Harmony software reduces the Internet setup process to four easy steps. An intuitive wizard guides people through this online setup, using easy-to-understand language, offering tips and providing easy access to help menus along the way. The setup includes the automated download of infrared codes from the world's largest online audio/visual control database, featuring information about more than 175,000 devices from more than 5,000 manufacturers.
