Intel's next-generation notebook and desktop processors codenamed "Merom" and "Conroe", will finally be delivered in Q4 of 2006, according to the latest CPU roadmaps appearing online. Notebook CPUs

According to reports on the Japanese website PC Watch, Intel will launch two versions of its Merom CPUs for professional notebooks by the end of 2006. Merom will launch as the 2.33GHz Core Duo T7600 (Professional) and the 1.83GHz Core Solo T5600 (Mainstream performance). At the same time, Intel will launch the 2.16GHz T7400 and the 2.0GHz T7200. All the above mentioned CPUs are dual-core, and support a 667MHZ FSB.

Q1 of 2007 will find the arrivals of another Intel Merom dual-core CPU, codenamed T5500.

Desktop CPUs

The desktop CPU roadmap unveils Intel's next-generation "Conroe" desktop processors that will ship as the Core E6000 series.

Starting from Q3 of 2006, we should expect the Conroe as the E6700 (2.66GHz), E6600 (2.4GHZ), E6400 (2.13GHz) and E6300 (1.86GHz). The first two pair are dual-core, with a total of 4MB of L2 cache; the second pair are single-core, 2MB L2 chips. All four will support a 1066MHz frontside bus speed.

The E6000 series will continue into Q1 of 2007. According to the report, Intel will launch the Core E4200, a single-core Conroe-based processor clocked at 1.6GHz and supporting an 800MHz FSB.
