T-Mobile Offers Sidekick Slide

T-Mobile Offers Sidekick Slide

Smartphones Nov 8,2007 0

This device -- unlike its sister model the Sidekick LX which debuted a few weeks ago -- puts much of its emphasis on email and instant messaging at the expense of multimedia functions. This is the first model in this series to be designed by Motorola, who took some of the expertise that went into the RAZR and designed a device smaller than its predecessors: 4.6 in. by 2.4 in. by 0.7 in. and 5.3 ounces.

The name comes from the QVGA screen, which slides up and down over the QWERTY keyboard, rather than swivel around as displays on other Sidekicks do.

Inside, the Slide has most of the standard set of features for this line, including a web browser, email app, IM chat program, and more.

While this device will have an audio player, T-Mobile warns that extended use of this this will drain the battery very quickly. When not playing music, its 1130 mAh battery is good for up to 5 hours of talk time or 3 days of standby time.

In addition, this smartphone includes a microSD memory card slot, a 1.3 MP camera, and Bluetooth.

Pricing and Availability

The Sidekick Slide -- priced at $200 with two-year contract and mail-in rebate -- is available now on T-Mobile's web site. It comes in only one color scheme: black and dark purple.

Additional information on it is available from Sidekick.com.
