SAMSUNG Home Media Centre

SAMSUNG Home Media Centre

Enterprise & IT Oct 27,2003 0

SAMSUNG Electronics is showcasing the latest additions to its line-up of home entertainment devices at the Digit A ll Inspiration show in Istanbul. New technology is the SAMSUNG Home Media Centre . A further addition to the new line-up is a high-definition DVD player with the world's first digital visual interface output. The SAMSUNG Home Media Centre allows multimedia content to be shared among audio-visual equipment in any room in the home over a wired or wireless connection and it makes easy to record, shar e and play back multimedia content anywhere in the home.

SAMSUNG Home Media Centre is an all-in-one digital home server with an integrated digital set-top box, broadband Internet access, a Personal Video Recording (PVR) device for connection to digital televisions, electronic programme guide and DVD/CD player. It gives users the ability to share a variety of multimedia content among AV and IT devices within the home.

The unit incorporates an x86 CPU, a corresponding chipset, and 128MB (expandable up to 256MB) SDRAM, and comes with a 80GB hard drive, 16x DVD-ROM, dual USB slots, infrared receiver and digital audio outputs. It also offers MemoryStick expandability. The SAMSUNG Home Media Centre runs on an imbedded Linux OS supporting Universal Plug and Play.

Other features include support for 802.11a or 802.11b wireless networking, Ethernet wired networking, IEEE1394 (Firewire) networking, or optional HPNA, so consumers can share content with other devices in the home wirelessly, such as HDTV broadcast content streamed to other digital televisions. In addition, images, audio files or video clips saved on a computer can be accessed via the SAMSUNG Home Media Centre and streamed to a television, PDA, laptop computer or other device. More information about availability and pricing will be provided at a later date.

SAMSUNG's new DVD-HD931 is unmatched for DVD playback. The latest technology is used to increase video resolution from standard definition to the resolution of most high-definition TVs. Renowned picture correction technology produced by video technology company, Faroudja, is utilised to maintain the natural fluidity of the video signal without jagged or coarse outlines.

The perfect way to enjoy a high-quality DVD or digital broadcast is to add a 5.1 - channel surround sound system. However, creating that home theatre-style environment can be difficult - especially when it comes to connecting rear speakers. Now, SAMSUNG's HT-DB 760 breaks new ground by offering a system without rear speakers that can generate the same quality surround-sound available from conventional 5.1-channel home theatre systems. The unit features innovative rear reflection technology, and will be noted for its easy installation, excellent sound quality and improved design.

SAMSUNG's HT-DB760 also features the Live Surround Mode for a simulated experience of a theatre or a concert hall, the Super 5.1 Channel Function for converting two-channel sound from CDs or TV to 5.1-channel sound, and the ‘Magic Headphones' setting for a simulated surround effect to any set of headphones.
