Pioneer to Release New Blu-ray Disc Burners For Long-term Archiving
Pioneer will release two BD/DVD/CD burners optimized for high-quality recordings on optical discs designed for long-term data preservation.
In order to record data on an optical disk and store then for a long period of time, it is necessary use a high quality recorder along with reliable optical disks.
The new Pioneer BDR-PR 1 MC-W and BDR-PR 1 MA-W burners are designed for this purpose, and have been certified by the "JIIMA (Japan Information Technology Association of Public Interest Corporation) for their quality of the recordings using optical disks.
The two models, set for release in Japan this month, are essentially the same, expect from the software included in the BDR-PR 1 MC-W model,which allows for the periodical evaluation of the quality of the recorded discs.The "Pioneer Error Rate Utility" supports a digital data error checking function. The inspection result and measurement data are saved, it can be used for creating documents to be submitted at the time of delivery of the archive disc.
The drives are compatible with 128GB BD-R made by Sony, which will be released in late July.
