New GeForce GTX 960M, 950M Notebook GPUs Power New Notebooks

Nvidia is filling out today its GTX 900M lineup by introducing the GeForce GTX 960M and 950M, which promise to deliver high levels of gaming performance wrapped inside sleek notebook designs.

You’ll find the new GeForce GTX 960M and 950M from many notebook brands in all shapes and sizes including those from Asus, Alienware, MSI, Razer, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Clevo, Gigabyte and more. Below you see some of the notebooks basd on the new GPUs, available now:

  • Acer V Nitro – Upgraded with GeForce GTX 960M
  • Alienware 13- Compact gaming with GeForce GTX 960M.
  • HP Omen – HP’s first gaming laptop gets an upgrade
  • ASUS G501 – New sleek 15" design from ASUS ROG.
  • Lenovo Y50

The GTX 960M and 950M are not using a derivative of the GM206, but the slower GM107 chip. Essentially, both new GPUs areclock speed bumps from the existing GTX 860M/850M, though this time the 960M is purely Maxwell based . The GTX 950M has 640 CUDA cores running at 914MHz (+ Boost), and it can be paired with either DDR3-2000 or GDDR5-5000, both using a 128-bit interface. The GTX 950M is a bit slower than GTX 850M (640 cores at 936MHz + Boost). But is going up to 1096MHz + Boost; with GDDR5-5000 providing 80GB/s of bandwidth.

Nvidia has worked with game developers to tune its drivers to work with the latest games. New features that enhance gaming, include
BatteryBoost, ShadowPlay Optimus, and DirectX 12.
