MedioStream first to preview Video Recording (VR) support for DVD+RW

MedioStream first to preview Video Recording (VR) support for DVD+RW

General Interest Jun 19,2002 0

MedioStream announced that it will preview Video Recording (VR) support for DVD+RW drives at the PC EXPO, to be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (Booth 2840) in New York City from June 25 through June 27. MedioStream is the first company to offer an industry-standard Video Recording (VR) support for DVD+RW drives, which allows users to update finished DVDs directly to DVD+RW discs. MedioStream's industry standard Video Recording (VR) support for DVD+RW drives allows users to create a DVD, add or delete clips and re-burn the video onto the same disc, without having to recreate or burn another disc. Consumers can now utilize MedioStream's VR support to turn their DVD+RW burner into a VCR with editing features. Users no longer have to buy multiple DVDs to save their favorite TV shows, movies or home video footage.

"We've always been committed to an easy-to-use solution for consumers, but we're equally focused on technological innovations to ensure our customers can easily get the most out of our software," said Gordon Doran, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at MedioStream. "By basing our solution on an accepted industry standard, we ensure that consumers can take advantage of industry-wide digital media advances, maximizing disc usage through re-write and reuse of space."

MedioStream's software is compatible with all DVD formats, but the VR support feature, along with its patent-pending "Direct-to-Disc Recording" and "Smart Buffering" features, propels MedioStream into the lead among video authoring solutions for the DVD+RW format. In a test of different DVD formats to see which would be the most compatible with consumer set-top boxes, Maury Wright, Editor-in-Chief of CommVerge Magazine, said, "At this point I have to admit that the DVD+RW folks were right all along when it comes to the living room, and I think the plus format will be the clear winner despite its late arrival."
