Intel To Compensate Pentium 4 Customers

Intel To Compensate Pentium 4 Customers

PC components Nov 3,2014 0

If you are leaving in the U.S. and had bought a first generation Pentium 4 based PC, you are are entitled to a $15 compensation provided by Intel, as a result of a legal settlement related to manipulation of the performance benchmark scores. A class action lawsuit is pending in the Superior Court of California for the County of Santa Clara County, known as Janet Skold, et al. v. Intel Corporation and Hewlett-Packard Company, Case No. 1-05-CV-039231. This lawsuit is about whether Intel manipulated Pentium 4 performance scores in violation of California’s Unfair Competition Law. The lawsuit also addresses whether Hewlett-Packard knew about and substantially assisted Intel in manipulating the Pentium 4’s performance scores.

Janet Skold alleges that Intel manipulated the performance benchmark scores for its first-generation Pentium 4 processors and that HP aided and abetted Intel's allegedly unlawful conduct.

Intel and HP deny any liability and all claims of misconduct and Intel contends that the performance benchmarks challenged by plaintiffs fairly measured the performance of the Pentium 4 processor.

As part of the settlement, Intel will offer personal $15 compensation and will also donate $4 million to non-profit educational organisations.

If you have who bought a P4 based PC, submit a claim form before 14 April 2015 will qualify for the $15.
