Bitcoin breaks the US$20,000 barrier for the first time in history

Bitcoin breaks the US$20,000 barrier for the first time in history

Enterprise & IT Dec 16,2020 0

Today was a very interesting day for Bitcoin, which jumped from an early minimum of US$19,321.08 (reached at 2:30 AM) to the day's — and all-time — highest value of US$20,735.61. With two weeks left until the end of the year, remains to see how high the world's most popular cryptocurrency can go.

If the daily gap of over US$1,100 achieved by Bitcoin less than a month ago looked impressive, today the world's most popular cryptocurrency has managed to beat that alongside reaching the highest value in its entire history of more than a decade: US$20,735.61.

The minimum value of the day was reached at 2:30 AM when one Bitcoin could have been purchased for US$19,321.08. At 6:10 PM, the historical high of US$20,735.61 arrived, marking a jump of US$1,414.53. After a short drop of roughly US$50, now we face a new climb that has just reached US$20,714.67. While I wouldn't bet on it, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new historical high of over US$21,000 before the end of this week, either.

The weekly Bitcoin price change shows an increase of 13.50 percent, while the one-month increase is a solid 31.24 percent. Last-minute update before publishing: the new all-time high now sits at US$20,765.10 for a Bitcoin!
