The Pirate Bay Goes Mobile

The Pirate Bay Goes Mobile

Smartphones Jul 25,2014 0

The popular torrent directory Pirate Bay has recently released a mobile version of its website after years of cramming the PC version onto mobile screens. Along with the refreshed look, the Pirate Bay's new mobile site has its own URL. Instead of auto-detecting your screen size and delivering the mobile version under the same web address, the mobile Pirate Bay is located at themobilebay.org.

The new site offers the The Pirate Bay’s list of links to material, and the site’s full search capabilities, on a clean alayout for mobile phones. People can reach all the same content available on the desktop website, including movies, e-books, music and television shows.

Mobile users who visit The Pirate Bay's main site are redirected to the new site.

With only a few torrent apps available for Android and none for iOS, most people are still downloading torrents from their PCs. Nevertheless, the mobile web site may actually become an important tool soon.

The Pirate Bay team is also at work on a project called the RSSBay, a site that would support personalized RSS feeds and allow you to add a torrent to your feed on the go.

The Pirate Bay has been in a constant legal battle with authorities around the world since the site began, but the people behind the service almost always manage to stay one step ahead of government agencies.
