GEAR Software announces "GearPro for Unix"

GEAR Software announces "GearPro for Unix"

General Interest Aug 14,2001 0

"...GEAR Software announced today the release of GEAR Pro for Unix 4.1. The new product introduces CD and DVD recording for Unix with a graphical user interface and "drag and drop" burning of files and directories to optical disc. Used in combination with DVD-R(W), DVD-RAM and CD-R(W) hardware, GEAR Pro for Unix gives the user both graphical interface and command-line control for mission critical archiving, pre-mastering and one-off optical disc production using recorders and jukeboxes. GEAR Pro for Unix supports Sun/Solaris, HP UX, SGI Irix, IBM AIX, Digital/Compaq and Linux.

GEAR Pro for Unix supports the creation of DVD volumes in ISO 9660, Hybrid ISO/UDF and Rock Ridge formats using DVD-R, DVD-R(W) and DVD-RAM devices and optical media. In the Rock Ridge format, GEAR Pro for Unix allows for links, pipes and ``device special'' files with options for permission and group handling. The user can build a virtual image instead of physically copying every file and burn the project using less than 5% of the total CD image size. Recording directly from the virtual image, users can target virtually any recorder and utilize track-at-once, disc-at-once, test write, Burnproof, Justlink, fixation, multi-session and ``verify after write'' options. Other features include the support of batch files for unattended operation and the ability to generate log files that can be reused as batch files. GEAR Pro for Unix has integrated CD jukebox operations for writing multiple copies and for unattended replication and jukebox recording for large data sets..." NULL
