ASUS today announced its support for Intel?s latest 32nm processor, the Core i7 980X Extreme Edition. This next-generation 32nm processor (Gulftown) featuring six-core / twelve-thread operation is expected to deliver higher performance on ASUS' entire range of X58-based motherboards. To support the new processors, Asus said that it had released updates for the the BIOS of their existing ASUS X58-based motherboards, including the P6X58D Premium model featuring SATA 6G and USB 3.0 technologies.
