Consumer Electronics Oct 19,2005 0

Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) will debut a 56-inch LCD TV that features a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, among with other technologies at the FPD International 2005 in Yokohama, Japan from October 19-21, 2005. At the show, the product that is sure to draw the most attention will be the company's new 56-inch Quad Full High Definition (QFHD) TV panel. This super-sized LCD TV panel has the highest resolution of any LCD panel in the world, with an astonishing 8.29 million-pixel display (3840 x 2160) that is four times that of the nearest competitor (1920 x 1080). QFHD panels can be applied in super high performance multifunctional LCD TVs, and are compatible with all currently available high-end digital still and video equipment technology. At the same time, they can also be applied in high-end specialty graphic displays such as in medical video cameras or satellite picture displays.

Mass production of the new QFHD panels will begin in 3Q 2006.

CMO will also demonstrate its full line of eight new LCD TV panels, mostly have been equipped with VAextreme technology, to show its complete development in the size area of below 60-inches.

In addition, CMO will launch a 19-inch LCD panel with a response time of 4 milliseconds, and a new line of 24-inch with ultra-wide viewing angles. Mass production of these models will begin in 4Q 2005.

In notebook PC panels, CMO continues to develop LCD panels with enhanced features specifically for audio-video entertainment that are lighter in weight, with brighter picture quality, higher color saturation, and faster response times. CMO?s exclusive 14.1-inch ultra-slim wide-screen LCD notebook PC panels have brightness of 240 nits and a contrast ratio of 400:1, while weighing only 300 grams. This is the lightest 14.1-inch, wide-screen LCD notebook panel in the world.
