Toshiba established a new standard for business mobility with the introduction of the Tecra(R) M3 notebook series. An extension of Toshiba's flagship business notebook line, the Tecra M3 series delivers uncompromising performance and the mobility business professionals demand by incorporating next-generation technology in the areas of processing, graphics, security and memory. Toshiba offers business professionals build to order freedom and single image stability with the Tecra M3 series. Meaning that regardless of the Tecra M3's configuration it will support the IT department's system image. This flexibility offers Toshiba's business customers the ability to reduce maintain the total cost of ownership.

"The Tecra M3 notebook series demonstrates Toshiba's leadership and understanding of the mobile computing industry," said Taro Hiyama, vice president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems. "In developing the Tecra M3 series, Toshiba took its mobile computing knowledge and emphasized performance, security and mobility to create a notebook with mass appeal for small-to-medium business, enterprise, government and education markets."

With an emphasis on performance and mobility, the Tecra M3 series incorporates the new Intel(R) Centrino(TM) Mobile Technology platform (formerly codenamed Sonoma); which is built around Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processors with a 533 MHz front side bus, integrated wireless LAN and the new Mobile Intel(R) 915 Express chipset (formerly codenamed Alviso). This advanced suite of features coupled with other next-generation technologies enables the Tecra M3 series to deliver better performance, improved wireless connectivity and increased mobile security options.

While on the road, the ability to connect to the Internet or a company server is a priority. The Tecra M3 series offers mobile professionals a complete suite of communication technologies including a built-in Gigabit Ethernet, V.92 modem, fast infrared and optional Bluetooth(R) as well as the choice of either the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection (802.11b/g(1)) or Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2915 ABG Network Connection (802.11 a/b/g(1)) wireless protocols. To simplify the user's connectivity experience, the Tecra M3 is bundled with ConfigFree(R), Toshiba's intuitive graphic connectivity management utility.

The Tecra M3 series features the new GeForce(TM) Go 6 Series PCI Express bus graphics processors from NVIDIA(R) designed to maximize response time, provide better platform image management and deliver crisp vivid colors. Users can select from models with the NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) Go 6200 TE graphics controller with 64 MB(2) dedicated video memory or the GeForce Go 6600 TE with 128 MB(2) dedicated.

For any mobile professional battery life is a primary concern. With this in mind, the Tecra M3 comes with a six-cell lithium-ion battery for up to 3.6 hours(3) of battery life. For users that demand the maximum possible computing time, the Tecra M3 offers a high-capacity 12-cell battery option. Another innovation is Toshiba's patented Slim SelectBay(R), which supports a variety of optical disc drives, an additional hard disc drive or a second six-cell lithium-ion battery. The scalable bay gives users the flexibility to remain productive even longer when away from an AC outlet.

To ensure data security and integrity select models of the Tecra M3 series integrates the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip for NSA-level encryption capabilities. The TPM encryption chip provides user with a heightened level of security for storage of files, identity protection and vital corporate information. This protects both data and identity from compromise due to external software attack or physical theft.

The Tecra M3 notebook series is available with a three-year limited warranty and Toshiba's premier Management Innovation global service for the mobile computing user. Customers can choose from several service plans, including extended warranties, carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country for same-day or next-day service, or may utilize any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for 24-hour service turnaround.

Toshiba also offers Ask Iris(R) Online, an instant response information service that alerts users to security software patches and provides other information regarding their product from Toshiba engineers and technical support staff.

The Tecra M3 is now available and can be purchased from Toshiba's traditional sales channels, which include dealers, VARs and distributors or directly through ToshibaDirect (www.toshibadirect.com). Suggested retail price for the featured configuration of the Tecra M3-S331 is $1,799(4).
