U.K Police Arrests Teen Hacker

U.K Police Arrests Teen Hacker

Enterprise & IT Jun 21,2011 0

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of involvement with cyber attacks on Sony and the CIA website, British police said Tuesday. Officers from the U.K. Metropolitan Police Central e-Crime Unit (PCeU) have arrested a 19-year-old man in a pre-planned intelligence-led operation.

Metropolitan Police said that the arrest followed an investigation into network intrusions and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against a number of international business and intelligence agencies. The police believes that the 19-year-old man is a member of this hacking group (LulzSec.)

Shortly after the arrest was made public by the U.K.'s Metropolitan Police, the hacker group LulzSec said on Twitter that the teenager wasn't a member of its ranks.

"Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested, it's all over now... wait... we're all still here!" the LulzSec tweet read.

The police added that the teenager was arrested on suspicion of Computer Misuse Act, and Fraud Act offences and was taken to a central London police station, where he currently remains in custody for questioning.

"Searches at a residential address in Wickford, Essex, following the arrest last night have led to the examination of a significant amount of material," the police said.
