CMC Magnetics, Ritek and Prodisc Technology, the top three producers of optical discs in Taiwan, recently released their August revenue results, with only Prodisc seeing year-on-year growth.

Taiwan-based optical disc makers may face decreasing gross margins this quarter as the companies are finding it difficult to raise CD-R quotations due to a current oversupply, and production costs of CD-R discs are increasing due to rising prices of the key component polycarbonate (PC).
