Smartphones Feb 25,2013 0

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013, Rambus is demonstrating the Imerz multi-media platform as well as a binary pixel technology that improves the quality of photos taken from mobile devices. The Imerz multi-media solution offers a mashup of internet and IPTV content. It enables an array of TV 3.0 services, multi-screen viewing, content shifting from mobile TV and back, social sharing, video-object data sharing and e-commerce.

By using the platform, content rights owners and distributors can integrate against a single point in the cloud to distribute their content over multiple heterogeneous devices and take advantage of the full interactivity.

For consumers, Imerz platform offers personally relevant video search, multi-screen switching with smartphone or tablet as an augmented remote, social sharing and social feeds.

Seperately, Rambus unveiled a binary pixel technology that improves the quality of photos taken from mobile devices. The Rambus binary pixel technlogy includes image sensor and image processing architectures with single-shot high dynamic range (HDR) and improved low-light sensitivity for better videos and photos in any lighting condition.

The technology is optimized at the pixel level to sense light similar to the human eye while maintaining comparable form factor, cost and power of today’s mobile and consumer imagers.

The technology been has been inegrated in a proof-of-concept test-chip and Rambus is offering it for integration into future mobile and consumer image sensors.
