Pacific Digital Intros 16X Dual-Format, Double-Layer DVD+/-RW Drives for PCs

Pacific Digital Intros 16X Dual-Format, Double-Layer DVD+/-RW Drives for PCs

Optical Storage Sep 29,2004 0

Pacific Digital Corporation has introduced its 16x dual-format, double-layer DVD+/-RW drives for PCs. The Mach 16 internal drive and the Xtreme 16 USB external drive are compatible with 8.5GB double-layer DVD discs, and all popular DVD and CD media. DVDs created on the new drives can be played on virtually any DVD video player or DVD-ROM with excellent performance. The Mach 16 and Xtreme 16 are complete solutions for data backup, storage and distribution -- and for applications that range from sharing videos and music to archiving 4.7GB of content on a single-layer DVD, or 8.5GB on double-layer media. Both drives are available now from major retailers.

"The Mach 16 and Xtreme 16 provide very fast, reliable, flexible solutions for reading and writing media," said Tony Tate, Pacific Digital sales vice president. "These drives have a 16x write speed for DVD+/-R media. In fact, PC users can record an hour of video on DVD-R or DVD+R media in less than six minutes."

The Mach 16 and Xtreme 16 are ideal for PC users who need high-capacity, high-speed removable storage. The drives feature SMART-BURN, SMART-X, VAS system, DVD+R9 2.4x (double-layer) support, and 2MB buffer -- and are compatible with MS-Windows 98, ME, 2000, 2003 and XP. All configurations include recording and playback software, documentation, cables, and mounting hardware. The external Xtreme 16 USB drive carries an MSRP of $149.99. The internal Mach 16 has an ATAPI/E-IDE interface and an MSRP of $99.99.
