Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 Released

Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 Released

GPUs Dec 8,2010 0

Nvidia today officially released the Geforce GTX 470 graphics card. The company also announced that its SLI technology has been licensed by motherboard manufacturers for use on their Intel P67 Express Chipset-based motherboards designed for the upcoming Intel Sandy Bridge processors. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 is the company's latest addition to its GTX 500 series of DirectX 11 GPUs designed for PC gaming enthusiast platforms. The new card is available from add-in card partners, including ASL, Asustek, Colorful, ECS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, Jetway, Leadtek, MSI, Palit, Point of View, PNY, Sparkle, Zotac and others, said Nvidia.

The GeForce GTX 570, the second card to utilize their new GF110 GPU. As the successor to the GTX 470 and the GTX 480, the GTX 570 brings the GTX 580?s improvements to a lower priced, lower performing card. Furthermore at $350 it serves to fill in the sizable gap between NVIDIA?s existing GTX 580 and GTX 470 cards.

With 15 of 16 SMs enabled, the GTX 570 matches the GTX 480 at a total of 480 active CUDA Cores and 60 texture units. The core clock is 732MHz, which 32MHz (4.5%) over the GTX 480. The memory system uses the same 320bit memory bus & 10 memory chip configuration we saw on the GTX 470, however this time the memory clock is up to 950MHz (3.8GHz data rate), 113MHz (13.5%) over the GTX 470. Memory clocks are also marginally faster than the GTX 480. Finally the GTX 570 has the same 60 ROPs and 640KB of L2 cache as the GTX 470, but because the ROPs run on the core clock they?re running 125MHz (20.5%) faster than the GTX 470.

The GTX 570 generally fits in the same power and noise profile as the GTX 470. NVIDIA puts the TDP at 219W. The card is otherwise identical to the GTX 580 featuring the same PCB and the same vapor chamber cooler,.

Priced at $349, the GTX 570 is cheaper than the GTX 480 but the Radeon 5870 and GTX 470 are the GTX 570?s value threats. The GTX 460 1GB SLI and the Radeon HD 6850 CF could be also cometing with the GTX 570, oin terms of performance.

Nvidia claims that the GTX 570 delivers the fastest performance for DirectX 11 games in its class. When compared to the closest competitive product, the GTX 570 is up to 128% faster in today's newest DirectX 11 tessellated games, and even 30% faster in previous-generation DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 games as well.

With full support for Nvidia 3D Vision and Surround technologies, the GeForce GTX 570 GPU also provides the graphics horsepower and video bandwidth needed to experience games and high-definition Blu-ray movies in stereoscopic 3D on a single display or spanning across three screens.

The dual-slot card features a mini HDMI and two Dual Link DVI ports and should powered by two 6-pin connectors (PSU must be at least 550 Watt).

SLI Technology and Intel Sandy Bridge

NVIDIA also today announced that NVIDIA SLI technology has been licensed by motherboard manufacturers Intel, ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI and EVGA, for use on their Intel P67 Express Chipset-based motherboards designed for the upcoming Intel Sandy Bridge processors.

As a result, users who purchase a SLI-certified P67-based motherboard and a Sandy Bridge processor can equip their PCs with a single or a dual combination of NVIDIA GeForce GPUs, including the recently released GeForce GTX 580 GPU and GTX 570. 3-way SLI is also available on supported platforms (3-way SLI support requires an nForce 200 chip built into the motherboard.)

With today's announcement, NVIDIA SLI technology is now available for all consumer-based desktop and mobile PC platforms, including the Intel Core i7, Core i5, Core i3, Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo processors, as well as those based on the AMD Phenom II CPU.

NVIDIA GeForce GPUs also provide gamers with additional features including NVIDIA PhysX technology as well as support for NVIDIA 3D Vision technology.
